Amanda is independently licensed by the Virginia Board of Counselors as an LPC and by the Virginia Board of Psychology as a CSOTP. She holds a B.S. in Psychology (with an emphasis in Substance Abuse Treatment) and M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Graduate Certificate in Trauma Counseling. She is also Perinatal Mental Health Certified with Postpartum Support International. Amanda has training and experience working with children, adolescents, and adults using a variety of therapeutic approaches in residential, outpatient and correctional settings. She is also a certificated Compassion Fatigue Therapist, Compassion Fatigue Educator and Field Traumatologist through The Green Cross Academy of Traumatology; Amanda has experience dealing with trauma and addiction in both the United States and overseas. She is level 2 certification in EMDR. She offers individual and couples counseling to adults 18+.

Within the last 7 years Amanda has become passionate about helping women and mothers navigate life’s transition, whether that be individually or within their relationships. She works specifically with clients who are navigating the unique challenges of motherhood; from trying to conceive, through pregnancy, to the postpartum period and beyond. Her goal is to create a safe, supportive and relaxed environment where women come just as they are and feel heard, validated, and empowered. Amanda has specific training in perinatal mental health and is also a wife and mother herself who understands firsthand what it’s like to go through this journey and is here to help you, and/or your partner, through it. Counseling is individualized and her approach to treatment utilizes, but is not limited to: cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, structured family therapy, problem-solving and strengths-based therapy.
