Lynette Widgeon-Hammonds is a native of Virginia Beach and has been a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Tidewater since 1991. She began her counseling role as a Family Therapist Intern at Pendleton Child Services Center in 1987. She was hired there in 1988 and in 1991 she was hired as the Unit Director for the Children’s Unit at the Pines Residential Treatment Center. She left the Pines as a Clinical Coordinator in 1997 to join Tidewater Psychotherapy Services. She has been with Chesapeake Psychological Associates since 2006. Lynette is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and appreciates being able to offer faith- based assistance and support when requested. She has received specialized training over the years in a variety of areas in order to help her patients in the most holistic manner possible. She holds certificates of training in EMDR, EFT, Family Therapy and Nutrition for Mental Health professionals. Being able to work with patients from a supportive, strength-based approach while helping them reduce their symptoms of grief, anxiety, depression and/or PTSD using supportive interventions around improving communication and emotion regulation, cognitive-behavioral therapy or DBT strategies is viewed as the focus in helping adults work towards achieving their most effective functioning.

On a personal level, Lynette has also helped many families over the years work through the critical adjustments and challenges of stepfamily living. She and her husband have been married for over 30 years and have enjoyed the many blessings of their blended family.
